# Share SSO connectors and bookmarks

## Choose which schools, roles, or people can see an SSO connector or bookmark on the SchoolDay SSO portal.

Choose who can see an SSO connector or bookmark. Add a rule to share it with a group of users, name a specific person, or copy the sharing settings of another item. A rule matches users by school, role, and an optional condition.

### Requirements

- Primary District Admin role in SchoolDay
- District migrated to the new authentication engine. See [Migrating to the new authentication engine FAQ](https://help.schoolday.com/knowledge/authentication-engine-migration-faq?hsLang=en)
- Familiarity with resources. See [How resources work](https://help.schoolday.com/knowledge/how-resources-work?hsLang=en)
- An SSO connector or bookmark to share. See [Add SSO connectors and bookmarks](https://help.schoolday.com/knowledge/add-sso-connectors-bookmarks?hsLang=en)

### How sharing works

By default, no one can see an SSO connector or bookmark. You choose who sees it by adding a rule or naming a specific person.

A rule has three parts. Conditions are optional.

- **Schools:** the rule covers users in any one of the schools you select.
- **Roles:** the rule covers users with any one of the roles you select.
- **Conditions** (optional): the rule covers only users who meet all the conditions you select, for example, being in a certain course, class, or grade. With no conditions, the rule covers every user in the selected schools and roles. The conditions you can choose depend on the roles you select. You can add more than one rule to an item, share it with one person by name, or start from another item's sharing settings.

#### Example

To show a lunch menu bookmark to students at School 1, add one rule with the school `School 1` and the role `Students`. Students at other schools, and other roles at School 1, don't see the bookmark unless another rule covers them. To limit the bookmark to one class, add a condition for that class. To limit it to one grade, keep the role `Students` and add a condition for that grade.

### Add a rule

To share an SSO connector or bookmark with a group of users, add a rule. For a new bookmark, **Who can see** is on the **New bookmark** form, so start at step 4.

1. Sign in to SchoolDay.
2. Go to **Connect** \> **SSO Apps**.
3. On the **Resources** page, click the SSO connector or bookmark you want to share.
4. Under **Who can see**, click **Add a rule**.
5. In the **Add a rule** dialog, under **Schools**, select one or more schools. Select “All schools \> everyone” to include every school.
6. Under **Roles**, select one or more roles. Select “All roles · everyone” to include every role.
7. Click **Add rule**.
8. (Optional) In the rule, next to **Conditions**, click **Add**, then select the values to match, for example, a course, a class, or a grade. The values you can choose depend on the roles in the rule. See [Conditions by role](https://help.schoolday.com/knowledge/share-sso-connectors-bookmarks#conditions-by-role).

The rule appears under **Who can see** with its schools, roles, and conditions. To add another rule, click **Add a rule** again.

### Conditions by role

The values you can choose for **Conditions** depend on the roles you selected in the rule:

- `Teachers` and `Admins`: courses and classes.
- `Students`: courses, classes, and grades.

When you select the `Students` role, grades are added to the list.

### Share with one person

To share an item with one user, regardless of their school or role:

1. Under **Who can see**, click **Add a specific person**.

2. Select the user to share the item with.

### Copy sharing from another item

To start from the sharing settings of another item:

1. Click **Copy from another resource**.
2. Select an SSO connector or bookmark from the list.

SchoolDay copies the item's people and rules. You can edit them afterward.

### Verify the sharing

1. On the **Resources** page, find the SSO connector or bookmark.
2. Check the sharing label, for example `Students & Teachers · 1 school`.
3. Sign in to the SchoolDay SSO portal as a user the rule covers.
4. Confirm the item appears on the portal.

### Troubleshooting

 

| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
| --- | --- | --- |
| The item shows Not shared. | No rule or person has been added. | Add a rule or a specific person. |
| A user can't see the item. | The user's school, role, course, class, or grade doesn't match the rule. | Compare the user's school, role, course, class, and grade with each part of the rule. |
| The item isn't on the portal home page. | The item is inside a folder. | Open the folder on the portal. |
