Disable MFA using a recovery code
Reset a locked account (no access to factor or recovery codes)
Note
MFA is required for all SchoolDay admin accounts. If you disable MFA, your configured factors are removed. You must set up MFA again the next time you sign in. You cannot permanently disable MFA for an admin account.
When to disable or reset MFA
- You are switching to a new phone and need to re-register your factors.
- Your authenticator app data was lost (for example, after a device reset).
- You are locked out and cannot use any registered factor or recovery code.
Disable MFA using a recovery code
This method works when you can reach the sign-in page but cannot access your registered MFA factor.
- Go to sso.gg4l.com and select your organization.
- Enter your username and password, then click Sign In.
- At the MFA prompt, enter one of your saved recovery codes.
- Click Verify.
Result: You are signed in and MFA is disabled immediately. On your next sign-in, you are prompted to set up your MFA factors again.
Note
Important: Each recovery code is single-use. Once used, it cannot be reused. Reconfigure your MFA factors and save new recovery codes at your next sign-in.
Reset a locked account (no access to factor or recovery codes)
If you cannot sign in — because your registered factor is unavailable and you have no remaining recovery codes — contact SchoolDay Support to have your MFA reset.
After support resets your account, sign in and reconfigure your MFA factors from the beginning. See Set up MFA for your admin account.
Reconfigure MFA after reset
After MFA is disabled (either via recovery code or support reset), you must set it up again at your next sign-in. See Set up MFA for your admin account for full steps.
