# How SSO resources work

## Understand resources, SSO connectors, bookmarks, and folders, and how users see them on the SchoolDay SSO portal.

Primary District Admins use the **Resources** page to manage the SSO connectors set up for their district, plus bookmarks and folders, and to decide who can see each one. Users open them on the SchoolDay SSO portal. Use resources to give each school, role, or class its own set of SSO connectors, or to add a link to a site that has no single sign-on (SSO) integration, such as a lunch menu.

This article explains what resources are, how they reach users, and what changes from AppStore. The tasks are in the articles under Next steps.

The **Resources** page is available to districts on the [new authentication engine](https://help.schoolday.com/knowledge/authentication-engine-migration-faq?hsLang=en). SchoolDay contacts each organization before it moves. If you're not sure whether your district has moved, or **SSO Apps** doesn't appear in **Connect**, SchoolDay Customer Support can confirm.

### What you manage

Everything you manage is a resource. You manage resources on the **Resources** page, which opens from **Connect** \> **SSO Apps**.

- **SSO connector**: the sign-in link to a vendor's application, which users open with single sign-on. The page labels it **App**. Rostering apps (Import, Export, and 2-way sync) aren't managed on the **Resources** page.
- **Bookmark**: a link to any web address. You add it on the **Resources** page. It has no SSO integration.
- **Folder**: a group of SSO connectors and bookmarks that users open as one collection. You add it on the **Resources** page.

### How resources reach users

For each SSO connector or bookmark, you choose who can see it. For the steps, see [Share SSO connectors and bookmarks](https://help.schoolday.com/knowledge/share-sso-connectors-bookmarks?hsLang=en). Users then open what is shared with them on the SchoolDay SSO portal.

On the **Resources** page, each tile is an SSO connector, a bookmark, or a folder. The label under a name shows who can see it.

To open your own portal home page, go to **SSO Apps** \> **My SSO Launchpad** on the sidebar. On that page, **Loose items** holds all the apps and bookmarks that aren't in a folder, and **Your collections** shows the folders.

### What changes from AppStore

For districts on the new authentication engine:

- Users open their items on the SchoolDay SSO portal instead of the AppStore dashboard.
- Personal folders, which belong to individual users, are not available. Bookmarks that were in them move to the top level, outside any folder.
- AppStore stays available as a fallback until the district's migration is complete and verified.
