Check data quality after each sync

Triage data quality issues after each sync, investigate a specific vendor app, and confirm fixes took effect

Use the Data Quality dashboard to find which records are blocked from reaching vendors, prioritize what to fix first, and verify that SIS changes resolved the issues.

Requirements

  • District Admin or Primary District Admin role

Do a routine check after sync

  1. Click Data Quality in the left navigation pane.
  2. Go to the My Rules tab.
  3. Check the duplicate count per entity — students, staff, and enrollments.
  4. If duplicates are present, go to the Duplicates tab and resolve them before continuing. For step-by-step instructions, see Manage duplicate records.
  5. Go to the App Rules tab.
  6. Review the issue list. Address Skipped issues first — these records are not being sent to the vendor. Review Error issues if the missing field is important to the vendor's use case. For fix steps, see Resolve errors and skipped records.

Find missing records in a vendor app

Use this when a vendor reports missing students or staff and you need to identify what is causing the problem and how widespread it is.

  1. Go to the Connect.
  2. Find the application tile and check the issue count. A non-zero count confirms active data quality issues for that app.
  3. Open the application and go to the Data Quality tab.
  4. Click the download icon to export issue records in CSV.
  5. Use the search bar to find a specific student or staff member by name or ID.
  6. Use the filter to show Skipped, Error, or both.
  7. Note which fields are missing or invalid. To fix them, see Resolve errors and skipped records.

    Confirm issues are resolved

After updating your SIS, verify that the fix took effect.

    1. Go to the application and click Run to trigger an immediate sync, or wait for the next scheduled sync.
    2. Click Data Quality in the left navigation pane.
    3. Go to the App Rules tab.
    4. Check whether the issue count for the affected app has decreased.
    5. Search for the specific records you fixed and confirm they no longer appear in the issue list.
    6. Check the data quality score on the application tile. A score of 0 means no issues remain.

Share issues with your SIS administrator

If you don't manage the SIS directly, export the issue list and share it with your SIS administrator.

    1. Open the App Rules or My Rules tab.
    2. Apply filters to narrow the results if needed.
    3. Click Download to export the list as a CSV file.
