Respond to a data-sharing request from vendor
Learn how to respond to data-sharing requests received from the Vendor
When a vendor wants to start sharing data with your district, or requests changes to an existing data-sharing agreement, they send you a data-sharing request. You must review and approve it before data sharing begins or changes take effect.
To initiate a data-sharing request yourself, see Create a data-sharing request.
Requirements
- Primary District Admin permissions are required.
Before you begin
Check the Home page in Connect regularly for new incoming requests. Requests from vendors appear on the application tile and are marked Awaiting your review in the Consents tab.

You can also enable email notifications to be alerted when a new request arrives — see Configure email notifications.
Note: Approving a request grants the vendor access to data associated with the selected schools, including teachers and students linked to the district office rather than a specific school.
Approve or reject a request
- Go to Connect > Home and select the application with a new incoming request.
- Go to the Consents tab and select the request with Awaiting your review status.
- Review the request details (vendor message, schools included, sata attributes requested).

- (Optional) Click Create a filter rule to limit which records are shared before approving.
- (Optional) Upload supporting documents such as a privacy policy or contract in the Attachments section.
- Accept the Terms of Use.
- Click Approve or Reject.
- (Optional) Enter a message to the vendor explaining your decision.
- Click Approve or Reject to confirm.
After approval, the request status changes to Approved and data sharing begins immediately. After rejection, the status changes to Rejected, and no data is shared.
Other District Admins receive email notifications when the request status changes, if email notifications are enabled.
Request changes before approving
You cannot edit a vendor's data-sharing request directly. If the request does not match your requirements — for example, it includes schools or attributes you do not want to share — reject it and create a new request with the correct settings.
- Click Reject on the vendor's request.
- Enter a message explaining what needs to change. Example: "We do not share the Address Line 2 attribute. Please resubmit without it."
- Click Reject to confirm.
- Create a new request with the correct settings. See Create a data-sharing request.
